Upcoming Virtual Lecture: FDA Pathways for Drug-Led Combination Products

January 28, 2026 | Virtual Event

Dustin Williams, PhD, Professor of Orthopedics at the University of Utah School of Medicine, will present at the Montana State University Center for Biofilm Engineering (CBE) virtual symposium, Anti-Biofilm Technologies: Pathways to Product Development.

Dr. Williams’ lecture, “Transitioning a drug-led combination product through the FDA: The Purgo Pouch, FDA interactions, and meeting a major unmet need of biofilm-complicated, fracture-related infections,” will examine the regulatory considerations and FDA interactions involved in advancing a drug-led combination product toward clinical development.

Drawing on translational research and regulatory experience, the presentation will address the clinical challenges associated with biofilm-complicated, fracture-related infections and discuss how localized, sustained drug delivery strategies are being developed to address this unmet need. Dr. Williams also serves as Chief Science Officer of Purgo Scientific, where he helps guide the scientific and regulatory strategy for the Purgo Pouch.
